Biobanking and sample management are crucial for efficient downstream analyses. This involves maintaining sample materials at appropriate concentrations, in proper storage formats and conditions, and with accurate database documentation.
Storage during services.
During all services, your material is securely stored in our fridges, cold rooms, and freezers at -20°C and -80°C, depending on the type of sample material.
Sample management and registration are handled through Labtrain mSample Biobank, an information system designed for research and diagnostic use.
Long-term storage.
We offer long-term storage for blood, DNA, and saliva samples. Our facility uses robotic systems to reduce manual handling, temperature-monitored freezers for safe long-term storage, 2D matrix tubes for easy tracking, and databases for comprehensive sample management.
We facilitate optimal collection and storage.
For optimal storage, we offer sample reformatting into various formats, including Micronic tubes and 96- or 384-well plates. This flexibility enables efficient storage and simplifies sample access and management.
We offer standard stool collection kits and containers for purchase to ensure high-quality sample collection. For optimal storage, Micronic boxes compatible with 2D matrix tubes are also available.

Central cold storage.
We closely collaborate with the Central Biobank of Erasmus MC for the long-term storage of materials at -80°C. Established in 2020, the central cold storage comprises 64 NORDIC freezers. Like the Genomics Core Facility, the Central Biobank aims to facilitate excellent scientific research. They assist researchers with the collection, storage, and management of human biomaterials.
